In an incredible coincidence I thought to make abstract paintings above emotions or questions at the bottom of the painting and like 30 of them turned out great sort of matching a story or faces that fit what I wrote on the bottom.Abstract art is relaxing and can allow one to focus on color or form.
I always use black to make the background and make up about 70 % of the painting. Colors I apply second and usuaally they work best when they match, however colors that don't match can create interesting stuff as well.Have you ever painted abstractly just based on the colors that you like or that seem to go together well?
Sometimes just a set of pleasing colors is all you need for a pleasing painting.
Do you not like vibrant colors as much as more muted colors?
For instance, complementary colors, like red and green, when put close together can appear to "vibrate" and can be energetic but tiring where as associated colors like yellow, blue and green are more calming even though you could still use vibrant forms of them.
