American CONTRACTOR beheaded today.....+3

First of all it was Jimmy Carters stupid ass who gave up the Panama canal- and we took it back (Panama invasion anyone...). The Panama canal is of immense economic and military strategic value.

You might wanna brush up on the history of the canal. The canal was never given up because it never belonged to the US. That didn’t stop Reagan from trying to annex it, which likely would have resulted in more terrorism.

Jimmy Carter did give up the Canal, and as of December 31, 1999, Panama gained full control of the Canal.

Yes, but Zanket is right. The USA was involved with the overthrow of a government we didn't like and made the deal to get the support of the guy we chose to assist in the overthrow. :bugeye:

"We will help you take over Panama but you must sign a treaty giving us the Canal". Hmmm.

Not real legitimate, I don't think.

Hmmm lets see, the US CREATED the country of Panama (used to be part of Columbia...) so we could have the land. Then WE built the Canal. The WE continually supported Panama and its various leaders. Carter signed away the Canal. We conviently didnt like Noriega, invaded, and now we have it back. While it might not say "Property of the U.S. Government #52328A56234C532CGD" on a sign, it is ours.

It can certainly be argued that Panama is a US puppet government. If Panamanians weren’t clear about who owned them, the killing of 2,000 of their civilians during Noriega’s capture would have set them straight. Relevant to this thread, whether or not Panama is a US puppet it has been terrorized by the US (the legal kind, since by definition whatever the US does is legal), and that has undoubtedly created terrorism.

Please post a link that shows American troops killed 2,000 people when they went in and removed Noriega. I remember a few dozen of his troops were killed when they tried to protect him but no civilians were killed.

From Lonely Planet:
The invasion, the intention of which was to bring Noriega to justice and create a democracy better suited to US interests, left more than 2000 civilians dead and thousands more homeless.

Of course that’s an estimate. The US conveniently doesn’t do body counts of those it kills. That is left to international organizations that arrive on the scene perhaps months after the mass graves have been filled. They interview the survivors to arrive at an estimate. The report that few civilians were killed was one of the great lies of the US media. Or I should say the US military, since that is where the media got it figures.

Personally I would have cut off purchase of all arab oil years ago and they can suck sand. Not our pocket books.

wow you have the solution to everything dont you. Cut off the purchase of all arab oil years ago. You have just defined how little you understand about the world in that one statement. Do you have any idea how reliant our country is on arab oil? Oh i know it just pains you to think that the good ol US is just a bitch suckin at the big arab oil cock but she is baby - our country would grind to a halt within days if we "cut off purchase of all arab oil". Im sorry but your comments on a nuclear final solution for your arab problem were bad enough but this oil comment really shows a true and total lack of understanding of whats going on in the world.
