Humour in defining the word "faith" and the situation in 2021?

Let's look at some of the humour that I think is there is the conflict over how to define words like "faith."

For example....I have much, much, much less faith in the vaccines for COVID 19 at this time than many of my friends have:

Some of my personal and online friends take the angle that I am an ignorant and overly religious red neck because I am not entirely thrilled with the idea of making my appointment to go get either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as soon as possible.

In actuality I am conflicted over the whole question............

... somewhat like how I am conflicted over even how to define faith?!

Many Christians would tend to find my belief in the idea that YHWH "evolved" or learned over infinite time in the past as terribly offensive and perhaps even heretical?!

I admit that my relatively high level of "faith" in the idea that YHWH is working out some sort of "Red Sea" type of event in 2021 results in my having much less faith in either Pfizer and / or Moderna but.........

..... there is a possibility that I may be doing a discussion soon in which I admit to having been vaccinated... .but I am not sure yet.... and I am asking my wife what she wants to do????????

Whatever she decides... I am tempted to follow her example?????

Was this a stupid comparison??????

If so.. .my apologies... .but I thought you might rather like this.

This should give you an idea of what I am attempting to get at by all of my ramblings on this general topic.

I admit that my relatively high level of "faith" in the idea that YHWH is working out some sort of "Red Sea" type of event in 2021 results in my having much less faith in either Pfizer and / or Moderna but.........
Are people that get vaccinated like unbelievers or something and like where would that lead?

Are people that get vaccinated like unbelievers or something and like where would that lead?

Some Christians and some Jews might well answer yes to that question.......

but my wife and I don't think of that question is such a dogmatic and simplistic manner. Our kids are mostly all in Ontario and we want to move there soon so if we need to be vaccinated in order to move to Ontario..... then we have to make a judgment call within our set of circumstances.

I personally believe that it is a good idea to delay and delay and delay taking whatever vaccine is available until there is at least a serious offer in on our home here in Nova Scotia. There are so few cases in our province that there is very little pressure on us to make that decision over the next two weeks.... but we are talking about it.

I will start my own religion.

In that I get money by telling people they have an excuse to be lazy, and that only the truly faithful i.e. more money have that excuse.

Are people that get vaccinated like unbelievers or something and like where would that lead?

It is possible that many of us who are not thrilled with the vaccines at this present time just read material on the topics that other people are too emotionally involved in this topic to even be able to look at or think about.

18 Reasons I Won't Be Getting a Covid Vaccine
Updated: Apr 19

#1: VACCINE MAKERS ARE IMMUNE FROM LIABILITY

The only industry in the world that bears no liability for injuries or deaths resulting from their products, are vaccine makers.

First established in 1986 with the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, and reinforced by the PREP Act, vaccine makers cannot be sued, even if they are shown to be negligent.

The covid-vaccine makers are allowed to create a one-size-fits-all product, with no testing on sub-populations (i.e. people with specific health conditions), and yet they are unwilling to accept any responsibility for any adverse events or deaths their products cause.

If a company is not willing to stand behind their product as safe, especially one they rushed to market and skipped animal trials on, I am not willing to take a chance on their product.

No liability. No trust.

Here's why...

#2: THE CHECKERED PAST OF THE VACCINE COMPANIES

The four major companies who are making these covid vaccines are/have either:

  1. Never brought a vaccine to market before covid (Moderna and Johnson & Johnson).

  2. Are serial felons (Pfizer, and Astra Zeneca).

  3. Are both (Johnson & Johnson).
Moderna had been trying to "Modernize our RNA" (thus the company name)--for years, but had never successfully brought ANY product to market--how nice for them to get a major cash infusion from the government to keep trying.

In fact, all major vaccine makers (save Moderna) have paid out tens of billions of dollars in damages for other products they brought to market when they knew those products would cause injuries and death--see Vioxx, Bextra, Celebrex, Thalidomide, and opioids as a few examples.

If drug companies willfully choose to put harmful products in the market, when they can be sued, why would we trust any product where they have NO liability?

In case it hasn't sunk in, let me reiterate...3 of the 4 covid vaccine makers have been sued for products they brought to market even though they knew injuries and deaths would result.

Jesus F'ing Christ!

How many people in the US have died from Covid 19 and you're throwing me this crap.

It is possible that many of us who are not thrilled with the vaccines at this present time just read material on the topics that other people are too emotionally involved in this topic to even be able to look at or think about.
Huh. If infection rates climb again, and another 100,000 people die - will you be proud of your contribution to that? Will you pat yourself on the back, and think "hey, I helped that happen! I'm pretty important and influential!"

In actuality I am conflicted over the whole question............

what is the whole question ?

what pre existing medical conditions do you have
?

how tall are you & how much do you weigh
?

making humour of millions of people dying is nothing new or unique
like people making jokes about the holocaust, ebola, zika, polio, malaria, mental illness Tuberculosis etc ...

i am curious why you have posted this in the arts & culture "humour" section when your insinuating making humour or sick & dying people.

maybe you are testing the mods to see if they will ban you ?
i suspect your thread will be destined for the cesspool

but i am curious about your pre existing medical conditions height weight
& what fears you have around vaccines

will you be making any jokes about anti-abortionists ? (i look forward to reading some of those)

what did the anti abortionist prey to god for ?
communism !

communism !

how do you get a committee of anti abortionists in 1 room ?(go to their communist commune/trailer park?)
you cant,
they are to busy stealing all your food & taxes to feed their countless children while your at work.

a gun rights activist & an anti abortionist are at a bar
an Irish man walks in & says
you two fuck off this is a civilized place

an Amish & evangelical christian are sitting in a working class tax payer funded free family health planning clinic waiting for their pregnant teenage daughter's who have both got STD's to be treated
and the Amish man asks the evangelical christian
"how do you make ends meet in this world controlled by money ?"
the evangelical christian turns & points at the orthodox jew walking in & says "ask that guy he should know"
so the Amish stands up & asks the orthodox jew
"how do you make ends meet in this world controlled by money?"

and the orthodox jew reply's "have faith, and vote republican, if you vote republican long enough there will be no more taxes so everything will be cheaper"

Because there is more than one side to this question........

I am interested though in if the nation of Israel has actually achieved something like herd immunity.......
if so then that would be a promising sign that the Pfizer vaccine is fairly effective....

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-56722186

In Israel, more than half (5.3 million) its residents have been vaccinated and an additional 830,000 people have tested positive for the virus in the past, which should give them some natural immunity.

That works out as roughly 68% of the population who are likely to have antibodies in their blood which can fight off the virus.

Prof Eyal Leshem, a director at Israel's largest hospital, the Sheba Medical Center, said herd immunity was the "only explanation" for the fact that cases continued to fall even as more restrictions were lifted.

"There is a continuous decline despite returning to near normalcy," he said.

"This tells us that even if a person is infected, most people they meet walking around won't be infected by them."

And cases are falling in all age groups including children, even though under-16s are not generally being vaccinated.

Google data reflect that many countries remained under lockdown as of the start of the month, with Israel and Chile two notable exceptions.

But unlike in Chile, as Israel opens up and people move around far more, cases have continued to decline.

It seems disappointing that so much emphasis has been on vaccines and effective treatments
have not gotten the attention that they seem to deserve.

Not sure where you got that. Convalescent plasma has been a huge factor in the survival of many people with serious cases of COVID, as have monoclonal antibodies. Corticosteroids like dexamethazone have improved survival in severe cases, as have antivirals like remdesivir.

Needless to say, vaccines are far, far more effective in preventing COVID-19. But the treatments listed above have been in use for between six and twelve months, and were once the only effective treatments for severe COVID-19. If you haven't heard about them - you haven't been paying attention.

Most of the treatments available tend to treat the symptoms not the virus.
The best treatment is not getting the virus; if you can have the vaccine get it instead of covid.

Thank you for this informative reply.........

Here is more information about my situation:

..... "I was told something very interesting about the vaccines just today by a good friend........

I made the statement that my wife and I are discussing whether or not to get the Pfizer vaccine and we stated that the vaccines were rushed..... and we are not totally thrilled with them but.........

since my wife's parents already got their Pfizer shot and had no really nasty reaction..........

this of course has us taking Pfizer more seriously.

Anyway... my friend replied that a doctor in British Colombia stated that these vaccines actually were being prepared for the last twenty years........

... as a vaccine for a previous version of COVID was being researched........

so these vaccines were NOT as rushed as I had assumed even as of yesterday?!"

...... So...... my wife and I may well report within days or weeks that we may have gotten our vaccination even though we do have some reservations..........

For the record I am not in complete agreement with the article that I gave the link to in post number six above..... but I did agree with his first two major points at least........

My wife and I have our house listed with a real estate company and we plan on moving to somewhere near Toronto, Ontario, Canada so that we are with the majority of our children and grandchildren so............ obviously we have to consider that the vaccination would probably make moving 2000 miles or so easier and faster.

Since 1999 I found out a lot about boosting my immune system so that I hardly ever get colds and flu and allergies like I did back before that time.

I do feel that I have already taken a number of quite effective measures to boost my immune system which is one of the many reasons why I felt less pressure to hurry in making a decision over the next days or weeks.

In 1996 I had pneumonia in one lung... in 1997 and 1998 I got bronchitis that had all the same symptoms......
and strangely enough it was in August - September that this happened.

I found out some things in 1999 that helped to result in my never again having either pneumonia or bronchitis and it is now even rare for me to get a flu or cold or allergies.

I had a sore throat in July of 2020 and got the COVID 19 test.... I was negative....... I boosted the nutritional substances that I feel boosted my immune system since 1999 and I haven't had to have another Covid 19 test since then.

Kinda like putting more effort into treating car accident victims and less into not crashing into other cars?
