I wish it was. Its a 3d rendition of a 2d painting. This was done in Maya. Brillaint guy who did this...all self taught in 3-d design.

...Wow!

Some of the stuff on these sites is amazing! How do you make a picture like that with a rendering programme? How much do you have to do yourself and how much does the computer do for ya? I'm used to just painting the old fashioned way... Might have to get into this rendering biz... What are some of the more user friendly programmes for a beginner?

The least expensive but most powerful rendering engine is Vue 4

Basicly it is like a sticker book. You take a sticker and place it on the page. But instead of 2D you place it in a 3D x y z enviorment.

Then you add lights at whatever angle you want and move the camera (point of view) to see it at the angle you like.

Shading, shadows, glare etc are all automatic.

Vue generates landscapes sky space planets animals vegitation - you name it... very well.

A beginniner with 10 clicks can make an interesting 3D picture.

Right out of the box I had no clue what to do but in a couple minutes I had made a leopard leaping out of a crystal sphere into ocean waves - with a killer whale waiting to devour it.

You can also tell it to add a picture or texture of your choosing or even incorporate it into various elements of your picture. Here I added an Escher picture to flower petals.

My first attempt at Coloring in Photoshop. The picture was hand drawn by me, scanned and colored in PS.

As you can see some of the draftsmenship, particularily, around Jaw area got ruined during the fixing of color layer. Ma bad.

Life in another galaxy
could simply be a flower.
Imagine how fine to see
it open every hour.

Rising out of a strange new sea
maybe it is menacing.
Or simply just for beauty
to make its sex enticing.

The lotus contains all its seeds
even before it flowers.
It's a bit like you and me
fragile but full of power.

nice overdose

cool, I find Bryce completely unintuitive grazzhoper.

Yes, it does.

:D I made this without any experience in Bryce whatsoever. Still makes eyecandy easy though.

Some of my drawings... don't judge them all by looking at just one, there are drawings there from when i had 12 yold. The numbers in the right side is the year that i've made the drawing. Some of them i made from my mind, others i've copied from comics.

Main picture directory:

Some of my prefered:

http://www.boreki.eng.br/desenhos/gb2 99.jpg
http://www.boreki.eng.br/desenhos/Unicornio 94-95.jpg (quite old)

Some of them are with pencil only, so it became a little weird when scanned... ;)

AgamemnoN - quite stylized, very good tho. Your work would lend itself to the tattoo or comic genre quite well with the clearly defined lines and contrasts. Keep it up!

Sarge - I'm guessing you've had some formal training with sketching human forms. Impressive stuff, well proportioned.

Some of my old stuff. 15 min sketches...

cheers! the fun thing about working with charcoal is once a line is drawn there's no going back, you cant rub it out. Makes for more expressive work in my opinion. As you can see, my proportions don't always look quite right but you can sometimes capture a mood better coz it doesn't look overworked.
