Is tongue rolling inherited genetically? And why can some people do it and some can't. Is there an evolutionary advantage?

so why can some people do it and others can't? It just seems an odd quirk to pop up in humans for no reason.

I can do it. But I'm not sure what evolutionary advantage it has other than some people having better control over their tongue muscles than others.

I've heard that, yes, it is genetic. From my biology class.
Odd quirks pop up all the time, some are useful, some aren't.

i cant roll it that way but i can roll it like you would a smoke (if that makes sence), so that its rolled length ways

There are (if I remember correctly) three different phenotypes:
rolling tongue, pointed tongue and twisted tongue. All are genetically inherited.
The latter is inherited recessively, I think.

I can fold my tongue vertically towards the middle, is that anything? :(

there is defintely a sexual advantage which would lead to an evolutionary advantage. Its kinda hard to explain, I'd really have to show you.:p
