I intended to say it was "new" when viewed against the rise of Nazism in Europe after the first world war. Sorry to have expressed myself unclearly. Yes that is very worrying. I do not have the figures to hand as to how large these various (KKK,neo Nazi, white supremacist) groups are numerically. Hopefully they are not too large and not democratically significant in the future. Trump is apparently not the man to provide an example of decency and decorum to the general public and so seems to be their ally if only in a de facto way. The suspicion that he could be their ally in a natural "collegiate" way is quite intolerable . How that can be countered I am not quite sure.
