Except that people who never studied science probably can't even name another scientist except the few they've heard of through osmosis. That and they're reading anti-science boards (hello, creationists :wavePlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! that, when they're name-dropping, are mentioning Einstein and Newton, rather than Maxwell, Faraday, Ampere and Coulomb, and of course Poincare and Lorentz, which at least begins to explain what Einstein had on his mind when he stepped into the limelight (not to mention the actual experiments with light that preceded him). And of course all of those great contributors to science (or at least most of them) are mentioned at the high school level. But what's education got to do with it?
