Gesticulating

    "Gesticulate" is an alternative (and rather pompous) form of the word "gesture." Using it to mean "making the sign of the cross" is specific to the milieu of the Catholic church. So it should not be a surprise that most of us misinterpreted you, since the majority of our members are not religious, and an even smaller number of us (if any!) are Catholic.

    Do ya think maybe you're asking the wrong bunch of folks?

    Why should anyone cross himself at all??? It's just a superstitious gesture.

    While I agree with you I just don't want to see religious gesturing on the field for they can do that in the locker rooms. There's going to be problems for now the Muslims are starting to do their gesticulating and soon who knows what is next. It would be better off not to allow for any because high schools don't have that going on so why should any other field of play?
