Happy Memorial Day! I am remembering my German American grandfather who was born in the US in 1928 and joined the US Navy in 1946 when he was old enough to enlist and served until 1950. Does anybody else have family that served in the armed forces?
I am also remembering my Polish American great grandfather who served in the US Army in France during World War 1.
As I cogitate over the meaning of Memorial Day . . . . . I realize that there is one other tune that I respect as much as, if not moreso, than the Star Spangled Banner . . . . . . . it is . . . . . . . . . Taps! Thanks to all those who died defending our Star Spangled Banner and America.
