I saw the film and I must admit it was just above average. I saw the 1933 Version when I was younger and even that almost put me to sleep. Nonetheless if only women were half as brave as the leading female, which is perhaps the only reasonable lesson from the film. My advice? See the chronicles of Narnia instead, King Kong is a chick flick buried in fur.

No way, King Kong was awesome! The fight scenes are ridiculous! Sure, it was slow the first 45 minutes to give you the backstory and whatnot, but once they make it to the island, it's non-stop action. Danger literally lurking on every corner. And I just love the scenes involving Kong and the girl. Humorous, sad, and all kinds of emotions. And yeah, even as a guy, I had to fight back the tears at the end. Darn animal movies. I have no problem watching people get blown to bits but when an animal does, aww shucks, heh.

Chronicles of Narnia was alright, but it suffered from the same problem as Kong in that the begining was pretty slow. Once the action kicks in though, it's awesome. I loved the battles at the end mixing in all the various fantasy creatures, but it's no Lord of the Rings. Obviously it's more for children, but that's what gets a few points knocked off for me.

When I heard they killed the fat, hairy bugger I wandered if Peter Jackson had croaked. Would've saved us the 'soon-to-be- tripefest of a movie that will be Halo. I'm not a Jackson fan to be honest so I'm not going to see it. And I know the jist of the story thanks to the old one done many years back. What would make me see it is replacing King Kong with Michael Moore. Now that would be sweet as.

Oh man, what a mistake. This'll be the movie that kills his career.

NEVER TOUCH A VIDEO GAME AND TURN IT INTO A MOVIE!

    When will Hollywood ever learn?

We're taking bets as to who will play Master Chief. I'm reckoning The Rock will be top of the list. Any game that deserves to be made into a movie, it's HalfLife. The damned thing is like a movie, you'd have to be some kind of special retard to fuck that up.

Dunno if it'll be The Rock after Doom. Some people are saying Vin Diesel.

As for Half-Life, heh, all they gotta do is make a whole machinima movie with the HL2 graphics and it'll prolly look better than if a movie was shot with real life scenes.

[no one else seemed to see the advantages of holding shift to run!]), but about the only cool bit in the movie was when he picked up the BFG and the Doom music started playing... 'Big. Fucking. Gun.'

Actually im inclined to disagree. Halo 1+2 are by FAR the most deserving games which could be made into a ovie.

Im mean it would be soo damn cool, see the aliens expolding, protecting earth, big guns, what more could you want? Ive never seen a game express itself in such a way as Halo.

    What excellent fun, what?

    Yep. He has. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2215

I really can't stand Halo, the storyline was cliched and I cannot abide the gameplay. The only reason why it got this far is due to an impressive marketing campaign by both Bungie and Microsoft. But, like Coca Cola, just because everyone knows about it doesn't make it the best.

    Least Narnia's honest.

You went to see this movie for the same reason teen idiols are filthy rich- hype.
If it weren't for Peter Jackson directing this film.....

Why oh why is Gone with the Wind such a classic? The actors are clearly acting which ironoically is what you don't want in a movie, the story is a little too historical for a Harlequin novel but way too sappy for a documentary, and the supposed thousands spent on props barely register.

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"- where, pray tell, is the intigue in that?

Well I didn't go and see King Kong due to the hype, I saw it because of what I saw on the previews and it looked awesome. So if anything, the previews spoke for themselves and created its own hype, not because people heard that Peter Jackson directed it. I know what kind of technology is out there and I wanna see it applied. Peter Jackson being the director didn't hype it up for me, but it did reinsure me what I wanted to see (updated technology) was going to be put to good use, and I already saw it with the previews.

That's the same reason why I saw Chronicles of Narnia. When you have a 1930's and 1970's version vs an '05 version, it's gonna be way better. The same with the cartoon version of Chronicles of Narnia compared to the most recent one. The previews looked flat out awesome and I know I was gonna see some cool action scenes. I was wanting to see Chronicles of Narnia the most, but Kong wound up being the better movie, in my opinion. Both the movies were slow for me in the begining, but that's not the reason why I came to see em. I didn't care for all the childish stuff in Chronicles of Narnia, but oh man, the last battle was worth it. Same with Kong. It was real slow in the begining, but once they hit the island, it was non-stop action and made it all worth the while.

I'm into technology, so a movie being updated using current technology is the primary reason for me seeing remakes. It's not as if I saw this only because Peter Jackson directed it. It could have been someone else, and if the previews looked as good as his did, I'd still see it. I don't even know who directed Chronicles of Narnia, but the previews looked sweet. I mean hey, I've already seen the past versions of King Kong as well as the cartoon version of Chronicles of Narnia, so I know what the stories are about. I'm not gonna sit through it all again just because so-and-so directed it. I'd much rather see some awesome CGI than some clay/puppet/mechanical animation of the past. The same goes for those who haven't seen King Kong or Chronicles of Narnia before. A younger person would rather see the updated version rather than some old 1930's version so that plays an important role as well.

Heck, the action in the previews spoke for themselves. You could have taken Peter Jackson's name off and it would have still done just as well. His last couple movies have been real awesome and King Kong is no exception. Hype may account for some ticket sales, but it won't account for the repeat customers such as myself. A good movie is simply a good movie.

As for Gone With the Wind. Yes, HYPE! I can't stand that movie. The same for Citizen Kane and Casablanca yet all we here is nothing but goodness from em. I could care less about how well everyone acted. If the script isn't good and it's not fun for me to watch, I could care less about it. The only movie I've ever enjoyed JUST for the acting was Sling Blade with Billy Bob Thorton.

Halo actually needs to be made into a movie, though. Usually it doesn;t work, but Halo's feel as a game makes it suitable to make a transition into film.

Just hope that the little story line that it is, just as with Doom, doesn't get butchered. Don't wanna all of a sudden have the "Master Chief" be called the "Platoon Sargent" or something else, heh.

How can you not like a movie where a 25 foot ape kung fu battles three allosaurus' and juggles a blonde screaming chick at the same time?

I thought Kong was a fine film. The easiest 3 hour movie to watch Ive seen yet. I went for the effects, but was pretty surprised how well they did with that tired old story.

Loved the scene with the fat dinosours falling all over the place! They did a killer job with flesh there.

Was annoyed most by Kongs date being able to walk around and climb around all over the empire state building in a silk dress in the middle of winter without turning completely blue and dying. Otherwise, It was a great Kong. I dont think we need other Kong movie for about 30 years at least.. unless its a Kong porn movie.

    Piece of crap movie.

I mean, it cuts out when they sedate Kong, and goes straight to New York. And only THEN does he go on a rampage.

No explanation of the transport from sumatra, how they fed him, kept him alive etc. And those staring contests between the ape and the woman?? Pleaaaase! Such a stupid movie. I would gladly pay admission to get those 3 hours back.

Bottom line, Jurassic Park was good because
    a) characters were developed.
    b) the action sequences made sense and meshed with the plot.
    c) had some scientific explanation, even if innacurate.

King Kong fell way below expectations.
