A new protostar has been discovered. It is estimated to be 300 times the mass of our sun and 300 times the size of our solar system. A protostar is a cloud of dust and gas that will later emerge into a star. It has been hidden in a cloud of dust and sits approximately 7000 ly away. It is dense enough that it is believed that gravitational collapse has already begun towards the formation of a new star. It shows no inclination towards breaking up into smaller stars but the star formation is inefficient and will result in a star smaller than the 300 solar mass. Because of its size it is thought that the formation process will be speeded up due to the increase in gravity of it’s size. Perhaps within 10,000 years where small ones can reach the million year mark because of less gravitational draw. Because of the speed increase it make finding a large protostars harder as there is less time to find it in.
