I'm a law-abiding citizen who is rightfully using that sidewalk to ride on.
Perhaps my mistake. I thought we'd established that it is illegal for most bikes to ride on the sidewalk in most places.

If it's legal where you live, then clearly your government doesn't see a risk to pedestrians.

It's actually neither here; no laws have been passed in San Diego that legalize it or outlaw it. Seems to not be that big a deal. Some nearby cities do have specific laws.

San Diego doesn't have the population density of L.A. or SF. So their bicyclists, their people who commute by car or bus, and the ones who simply walk to work, have a lot more space in which to do it.
