Singularitys suck!!

Does anyone know the answer to this one. If someone successfully creates a singularity in the lab, and looses it, would it drop the center of the earth and continue to eat matter? If so, how long would it take to consume all the earth, or would a hollow sphere form around it and save us?

Thanks Matt 8)

More likely the singularity will need critical mass to continue - otherwise will dissipiate like the nuclear bomb reaction. There has to be enough mass and energy to create a chain reaction. That is why stray neutrons may not trigger atomic weapons and material stockpiles everywhere to explode - I think....

Yep. The more diminuitive the singularity's mass, the more rapid its evaporation.
