The Show Your Paintings/Drawings/Images Thread

scientists can be painters too!

I did a degree in chemistry many years ago, and was particularly interested in organic chemistry. looking back I think that that was because I really liked the visual and spatial aspect of that discilpine. That interest has extrapolated into fine art. I'm not very good at posting pics up, so I'll simply add a link to my on-line gallery.

...except that the board isn't allowing me to add a link :bawl:

I guess that stuffs that, but you can find my gallery by googling 'andy lloyd art'

If I may show one of your paintings which I liked.

Illustrations from the book I'm working on - dunno if they class as "art" though.

The basic names - in the finished article (which will be CD-ROM or DVD-based and hypertext) clicking on any item will lead to in-depth descriptions, history and technical details.

One of the explanatory diagrams (in this case torsion bar suspension basics).

Another explanatory - Belleville spring suspension.

Incomplete, but progressing...
Although it's drawn as 3D I'm actually using a 2D package here and having to convert dimensions and angles.
Fun!

Er, too many.
Never mind, if the book ever sells...
Oh wait, the last time I got paid for my writing it didn't even really cover the cost of ink :D

The nasty part is that with it being 2D that's IT - any other views have to be started from scratch.
I now have a 3D package and although it'll take longer to do, once done I can view it from any angle (including interior and sections through) at the touch of a button.

[Edit] According to the draughting package I used I've spent a total of 12 hours and 48 minutes on it. But there are numerous other parts to the drawing, including the standard orthogonal views [EndEdit]

Man, Oli..that's precision work.

Maybe I'm going to post one of my oooooooooooooold shitty drawings....just for the sake of it. :p

What tank is it? Perhaps a 3D model already exists. Adobe Acrobat can render 3D models as black and white linework with hidden lines, like an illustration.

It's a variant of an inter-war British Vickers 16 tonner, and no: that's a one-off limited edition Oli special drawing. :D
The CAD package I'm now using (SolidWorks) can do that, while still leaving the drawing scalable and measurable (it's drawn full size).

Only the ones I created.
I work from photos, sketches and known dimensions, create a 2D (as stated in post #629, I did the orthographic views) drawing and then use that to calculate the dimensions in 3D.

It's going to be far far easier (although slightly more time-consuming) in the 3D package because it will create ALL the views I'll ever need at the same time.

I'd put up the version with my real name signature...but nah ;P. This was made via digital photo & photoshop. The original looks...well..I f*cked it up so I thought I'm going to take a pic of it and play with it in photoshop.

Photoshop noob here. The original was just made with pencils...and this one got a watercolour effect added. But it's been ages I've made this...so I don't quite recall. :(

Haven't been artistically involved for ages. Sadly. -_-

Pfft, I recognise a strigiforme when I see one (actually I saw half a dozen, of differing types only last Sunday): I may post photos.

As for actual 3D/ solid-modelled stuff, here's a little something I was working on a few months ago (just for fun).
