Human's are at the height of evolution, at least to our knowledge. If the universe can produce highly evolved life forms, I think they have the best chance to understand what they observe around them. If there are "as yet" unknowns that hide a God from irrefutable confirmation, or hold us in undetectable simulations that we live in, then I guess we can't yet know that, but we are still evolving and discovering, and the "as yet" unknowns are likely to become knowns as time passes.
