My real answer to almost every question was: It depends.
So that's why I never won a Pulitzer!

    "fudged a bit" ?
How do you do that on an on-line Q&A?

At any rate, as a CWO, I suppose that I had to have at least a smidgen of "grit"...

    easy "fudge" to a 5

    Better'n grit in my spinach.

Just think: single minded and damned stubborn, and voila you've got grit.

    ...................
Old joke about a grad student who came upon an hypothesis and worked for years on it. Not giving up when all evidence suggested that the hypothesis was not representative of reality.
Finally, and a faculty luncheon, he was introduced to the author of the hypothesis, and engaged "the great man" in conversation. Upon bringing up the topic of the hypothesis, the great man said:
Oh, that silly thing. I gave up on that idiotic garbage long ago.

Seems odd that you first agree that as a CWO, I had to have at least a smidgen of "grit", by stating : "I woud thank so.!!!", and then make a query indicating that it is questionable whether or not you even know what it is that you just agreed to!

At any rate, if you do not know what a CWO is, then it is of no pertinent consequence...suffice to say, that occasionally I was affectionately referred to as the HMFIC...

I guess I don't have much grit, but that works for me. The kind of problems I'm solving don't require staying the course, they require thinking outside the box, and that means being willing to abandon previous lines of thinking in favor of something new.
