see norsefire you have left me a huge problem.

as a sociological theory, its hard to argue against marxisum. very few control the wealth and a very large percentage slave away for very little reward. the US is a perfect example of this

however as a system communisium didnt work and we never got to the post communist stage Marx talked about so no one knows if that would work either

as a polly Clinton was great but he was no where near far enough to the left on SOCIAL issues that he should be, partually because the US as a culture is to far to the right. He also dropped the idea of universal health care when he should have pushed it harder because its good for the people

Marxism isn't that great. I mean, I can be called a socialist, but I also believe in the free market. However I used to be a capitalist purist.

Asguard why don't you like laissez faire capitalism?

You also use to be Muslim, Jewish, and Christian. (just pickin on ya cuz i have nothing better to do right now) :p:eek:

As did I. I may not be an anti Semite racist, but as for his ideas on government and order, I can't agree more.

because its ultimate extention is a reintroduction of slavery

"power corupts and aposlute power corupts apslolutly"

even ethically minded companies would be drawn into unethical practices as costs were considrably higher for the ethical company vs the unecthical one.

the enviroment would be the first trashed but eventually it would be sociaty as a whole, if communisisum was bad this would be worse. actually it would mean the end of sociaty as a whole because this sort of policy would have to flow into other area's like criminal law which would then become a commodity in itself.

I belive in goverment under law and have no desire to return to a fedual sociaty where people are treated as chattle

I tried to be broad. Marx and Hitler were the extreme left/right, and Huckabee represents the conservatives, and Bill the liberals, and the theocrats represented by the Papacy

You be better off, for all its faults, using the politicalcompass.org test than relying on those five as somehow representative of all political thought. Besides that what's the difference between "left/right" and "liberal/conservative" to most people those are two sets are synonyms. I also don't see the Pope as especially theocratic, since the nation he rules has virtually no population and all the people who are there are there voluntarily and tend to "move home" after a few years.

You might even be better is you just said "Are you politically most inclined towards the left wing, the right wing, a theocracy...?" etc. I tend to be all over the placve in my thinking. On some issues I am left, on some right, on some neither.

Truly?

Anyway, people can't think well for themselves; most are uncritical and weak minded, and that is why we need strong leaders.

"How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think. "
-Adolf Hitler

Hmm... kinda true, but not true enough that I would abandon democracy. Never!!!

He was from the 20th century, early to mid, in fact. He and the other Marx Brithers were in films from the 1920s to almost 1960. He's the man who came up with lines like:

"A man is only as old as the woman he feels."

"If I held you any closer I would be on the other side of you."

"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know."

"Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?"

"Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana."

"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."

"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members."

"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made."

"I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it."

"Why a four-year-old child could understand this report. Run out and fetch me a four-year-old child, because I can't make head nor tail out of it."

"I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception."

and

"Quote me as saying I was misquoted."

Personally, I hate old comedians. Bob Hope, for example, was never funny. He never even made me smile or consider smiling. But Groucho Marx was funny. Duck Soup, at least, was a classic.

heh heh that guy is hilarious. i have heard a couple of them before... like the fruit flies and the book in the dog

A democratic totalitarian state = ideal. The people have absolute power over themselves, exercised via an executive.
