Well, isn't giving birth to a child an achievement, and isn't that based on gender, S.A.M.? What about your generalization?
 
Isn't overcoming social bias against you due to race, ethnicity or gender also an achievement?
 
But, aren't men generally physically stronger than women? Isn't that a fair gender based distinction?
 
How are these points irrelvant to your generalization that race, gender and ethnicity have no bearing on achievement?
 
Well, if you want to stay on topic, I'm not sure how you can discuss it with the limitations S.A.M. just put on it. Question, "Blacks less intelligent than Whites?" If this isn't racism, I don't know what is. How can we discuss the truth of this racist comment in scientific terms (even if it turns out there is no truth to it) if S.A.M. won't let you discuss it?
 
So, you seem to be going back on your generalization and instead, focusing on race, intelligence, science and society? Good start. But, despite the fact that an esteemed scientist, Watson, makes a racist claim, you still don't believe that science can deal with such a claim? It must be squelched?
 
Lets see what Watson has overlooked:

1. race is a social construct that does not really exist in biology and
2. IQ tests only measure the ability to take IQ tests (and although correlated to scholastic testing, are not correlated to success or enterprise) and
3. variation in groups is greater than variation between groups in these tests
4. there is no information on genetic contributions to intelligence
5. there is no definition of intelligence in science,

What do you think? Why did Watson overlook this?
 
I was part of the discussion. I was trying to understand what paricular genetic differences between the races related to intelligence (if any). It seems to me that if Dr. Watson makes such a claim, you have very little right to deny its existence.

You haven't answered my question; as a scientist, why did Watson overlook such basic concepts that are well known in science?

As for disagreement, any scientist, no matter how "great" is open to questioning when he supports a faulty premise with little scientific basis.
 
Well, race does exist in biology. Skin color, hair color, some facial features are clearly different among different groups. Those other points may be valid, but some on this forum believe there are genetic difference in intelligence among the races. I simply wanted them to explain what skin color had to do with intelligence.

But the majority of the scientific community is against this claim as well and the have evidence showing that most of these tests are flawed including some done by Harvard. The experiment claimed that blacks were less intelligent then whites, but was later found to be biased. Its an unfounded theory in the scientific community as a theory is something that has been tested over time and never proven wrong, well this has been proven wrong many times therfore it holds no water.
 
The premises that races exist and are genetically difference in certain aspects is certainly not faulty. Now, whether any of those difference relate to intelligence is another question.

Watson has no faulty premise, he is afraid to give full scientific basis because society seeks to halt it. He has found truth and cannot fight a war with those who want to halt it.

If blacks were less intelligent that whites and DNA showed it...the effects of this discovery would cause great mischief across the world. Better be shadowed with illusions, than face the truth.

They have nio scientific basis for this proof, my grandfather said so is not a valid premise.

If you believe Watsons premise was not faulty, its clear that your knowledge of science is too poor to comprehend this discussion. Perhaps you should stick to free thoughts and cesspool or one of the other non-science forums
 
It's also not a faulty premise that intelligence exists to varying degrees and that there may be a genetic basis to intelligence. If intelligence exists, but is being measured incorrectly, how does that make the hypothesis that their is a difference in intelligence between the races false?
