You forgot 'start'.
All data is not equal. If I can interact with the data on my screen - e.g. you - it's "more real" than a chance encounter. I can ask you a question and possibly get an answer - but if I ask Fred Flintstone a question I get no response, so he's "less real" than you are.
So if a ghost answers my question, "Who the @#$% are you?" I'll take it's realness more seriously.
Well... it is actually more of a 'guideline'.
The bomb, in the movie "Dark Star", said it shortest:
