Here's an intriguing interpretation of ghost phenomena from the perspective of a digital reality where everything is virtual and based on information. What is real in this reality? Just the data he says...

"Let's just go back and realise there really aren't any physical bodies either"..

"So when we talk about are there ghosts that are actually there, that are physical, when actually the physical doesn't really exist either"

"All that physical reality is just a data stream coming to your consciousness"..

"Just like your elf running around in World of Warcraft is nothing but a data stream coming to your computer, right, and you're the consciousness with the joystick and the keyboard"...

:frown:

I KNEW I SHOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED TO A GOBLIN SHAMAN.. I SHOULD HAVE GONE DRAENEI INSTEAD!..

>_<

So.. According to this guy, ghosts are seen when they are entered into our data stream..

Riiiigghhtttttttttttttttttt..

I refuse to believe anything you say because you may not be real. You are a plasma that has been inserted into my data stream.

I'm only as real to you as the data you see on your screen. Can you deny that?

The code is .......

The code simply is, lacking beginning or end. It is all encompassing and all knowing. It alone is good, it alone is evil. We are but pawns, our actions and statistics dictated by The Code.

All data is not equal. If I can interact with the data on my screen - e.g. you - it's "more real" than a chance encounter. I can ask you a question and possibly get an answer - but if I ask Fred Flintstone a question I get no response, so he's "less real" than you are.

So if a ghost answers my question, "Who the @#$% are you?" I'll take it's realness more seriously.

The bomb, in the movie "Dark Star", said it shortest:

You are all false data

There is chair data that, when you perceive it, you nevertheless sit through and hit the floor. There is other chair data that, when you fail to perceive it, nevertheless bangs your shins in the dark. What we term "reality" is the collection of data in that second category. It's handy to have a term for it.
