Say I did a wash to see how much ethanol I could get. My yeast has gone dormant, no more bubbles. So I spike it and seal the fermentation vessel air tight.

I still want to distill it and separate the alcohol from the rest of the mixture but, would that kill the carbonation?

"did a wash"? "spike"? Sorry, I'm not familiar with either term.

If you try to distill a mixture containing dissolved CO2 you will boil it off, as it is the most volatile component in the mixture.

That was to hint at brewing alcoholic beverages as it would enable me to be concise I felt.

Didn't think to much beforehand as I was more pondering this guy:

Of course. You have to boil at normal pressure to do the distillation. You could try to keep pressure on during the distillation but 1) that would be much harder to arrange and 2) everything would boil at a much higher temperature.

And even then it would always be the CO2 that came off first, as it is a matter of the relative vapour pressures.

If she doesn't want to kill the yeast, she could do a vacuum distillation - but the CO2 would still come off first.
 
Sorry.

My head was/is a jumble right now. Would have probably asked this on a brewers forum. Yet, I am banned cause long ago I inquired about genetically modified yeast releasing chemicals found in marijuana instead of alcohol.

Maybe just have a spliff or two while drinking instead of trying to achieve a two for one?

I am a home brewer and just a couple of notes. It is illegal to distill alcohol in Canada just like in the US. I doubt anyone is going to really care about home consumption but just saying... The other more important point is that the first part of the alcohol (low temperature) distillate is methanol and it is poisonous. You need to have good temperature control on your distillation unit and you MUST discard the methanol before you collect the ethanol distillate. My son is a home brewer also and we made a distillation tower and it was a fun project, but you need to know what you are doing or you could ingest methanol and go blind or die, which will ruin your whole afternoon.

Don't worry about carbon dioxide, when you boil the wort in the distillation tower it will be outgassed.
