Free Masons and Modern Architecture

There are crowds who view modern engineering and modern architecture as being disjointed from the architects and engineers of the past, namely Masons and free Masons. Some even refuse to acknowledge the connection at all. These societies, although deemed secret societies, and I'm sure the reason for the secrecy warranted, minus the deeming them to be malicious - attached from the unaware. The latter is still possible. A caution

Trade secrets and tech advancement, coupled with caution in effort to keep some tech from the hands of potentially dangerous people would seem a worthy goal, if not one necessitated due to the potential of some tech itself.

The link between those from years past, I would think relevant to today's tech genius pool and introductions to the societies themselves applicable. Company coupled with caution - The global leaders for a safer more secure world and aspiring engineers/architects to be deemed worthy of such an honor - to be part of that effort. It's a humbling thing to consider, if not a thing to warrant a permanent understanding in the psyche of those being considered for the pool

With this stated, would you agree with this type of caution if the previously stated is true, namely the necessity of secrecy?

ThazzarBaal:

I can't parse your post sufficiently well to understand what it is that you're advocating, exactly.

Are you saying you think that the "secrets" of architecture and engineering should be reserved for a select few, or something like that? Are you saying you believe there are already such secrets? Or what?

Why do you do this? It should be easier to speak clearly, not harder. You can try to make it difficult to decipher as some on here do but it doesn't add anything to your post.

Are you asking if the Masons have some architectural secrets from the past such as how the pyramids were constructed?

Why don't you just come out and clearly state whatever is on your mind?

Architects and masons, framers of our constitution, masonry, and trade secrets aren't any type of new concept. I'm not sure what either of you are asking. I'm suggesting some things as well as people require integrity and a good constitution before utilized for certain projects.

If you are saying that modern engineering and architecture is much more advanced than the past, I obviously agree.

The Free Masons is just a club for guys.

Free Masons aren't actually masons, they are just in a club. If you want rock work done you need to find an actual mason, which can be found by looking on the internet for a local mason. I know a Free Mason and a professional mason. The Free Mason is a retired mailman and the mason is, well a mason.

The Free Mason I know asked me if I would like to join their club. I was thinking about it but decided not to since I had young kids and didn't want be obligated to go to meeting and stuff like that, plus clubs seem kind of silly to me.

Do you mean "I'm suggesting some things, as well as people, requiree integrity and a good constitution, before being utilized for certain projects?"

If so, what things and people that require integrity and a good constitution are you talking about and what projects are you talking about?

Mostly any project worth consideration.

Integrity is important as is a strong constitution/will/character.

OK, but why start a thread about that? Isn't that like starting a thread about "Hey everyone, let's be nice"?

Maybe I have a long standing interest in free masons, architecture, and a new found interest in masonry. That's the case actually. Integrity being vital to the trades ... Architecture and masonry I mean. Connecting dots is another favorite past time. Being nice isn't far from my character, but the thread is far removed from being about being nice, but I'm not opposed to it. I could just as easily be the opposite, but I choose not to be typically. Not always, but typically.
