concerning growing meat: how about growing fruits or veggies without the trees or plants?

I've thought about this for a long time, independently, for about 5 or so years. I think it would make a great humane solution instead of slaughtering animals with the instinct to live, in the millions by gosh. It's a shame that we have to sacrifice so many lives.

However, I have no problem with vegetables or other small plants being killed. They don't really percieve any pain.
