An example of the poor quality films that made big money in the 70's and early 80's. Standards were rock bottom. Anyone that believes today's films and music are bad, hop in that time machine and go back to 1975.
Not all movies were bad but there were ALOT of them. Much more bad than today.

What do you mean? I saw 'Rocky' and 'First blood' a thousand times. They were excellent! I love the lack of dialogue in 'First blood'. That must have saved quite a bit of money on hiring writers.
Indeed, and why hasn't congress done something about the sorry state of the national guard which was clearly depicted in the excellent historical document 'First Blood', known among in uninformed masses as 'Rambo' although this is not correct.
A lone special ops guy gives the national guard the run around. A perfect simulation of the insurgent enriched environment of Iraq. Still! Nobody in the American Government did something after seeing this depiction of truth!
In the end the only thing that helped was shooting up the sherrif (but not the deputy) and diplomacy.
And still the government did not take notice.
Did they train a bunch of local redneck sherrifs in Iraq? No.
Did they try diplomacy with the insurgents and return them to the comforts of Fort Bragg? No.
We can learn a lot from John Rambo.
He just wanted to go into town and the sherrif turned him down.
You can kill a wild boar with a spear.
You can kill a pig with a M60.

Stallone's exaggerated grunting and phony NYC/Boston or whatevah accent was unbearable. Predictable cheesy storyline and Stallone's utter inability to act really shows when you go back and look at them now, not that I would recommend that! Never saw a Stallone film that didn't suck llama balls.

Rocky 1, 3 & 4 were fantastic. Very much looking forward to seeing what this new one is like. As kids, my brothers and I re-enacted the scene where Mickey dies and Rocky cries, then proceeds to retrain himself with Apollo to best Clubber Lang. And so many memorable lines from 4, "I must break you."-->"Go for it." Yeah!! "The Russian is cut! The Russian is cut!"-->"See? He's not a machine!" <referring to Rocky>"He is like a piece of iron."
You forgot: "If he dies, he dies..."
Seriously, I'm also excited about the new Rocky. I heard Stalone do an interview about it, and it sounds good. Anyway, I've seen all the rest, why miss this one.
Also, the George Foreman comeback makes the whole thing somewhat plausable.

I could see how it could be either an amazing comeback type of movie, or a shit sequel to a series that went downhill after 1, though overall it was good, with the exception of 5. Sorry but Rocky 5 sucked shit.
5 was pretty bad, yes. The only disappointment in the series for me.

Disturbingly, I'd actually pay good money to see that. Well, I say pay good money, what I actually mean, obviously, is rip the DVD when it comes out on rental - but Terrence Stamp in full on General Zod mode... Always worth the celluloid.
