Well, I was inspired by some SF thread in the arts/culture section, so I ran out a got J.Geils Full House LP on CD and have been jamming that loud from time to time. Also been really into Overseer, 16Volt, Baby Anne and some Popol Vuh.

I Was Born To Wander

Born To Wander
Rare Earth
Tom Baird

There's nothin' you can do girl,
There's nothin' you can say.
You're talkin' to the sky girl,
I just got to get away.
Got to hear the wind song
Singin' in my ear.
Got to get it on girl
And I'll never make it here.

'Cos the wind was my mother,
The highway is my brother.
I was born to wander,
And it's time for movin' on.
I was born to wander,
Turn around and I'll be gone, gone, gone.

I'm just followin' my heart girl,
And it's followin' the sun.
Lookin' for an answer
I know may never come,
But I gotta chase my dreams girl,
Like a river to the sea,
Got to find a rainbow,
That's waitin' there for me.

'Cos the wind was my mother,
The highway is my brother.
I was born to wander,
And it's time for movin' on.
I was born to wander,
Turn around and I'll be gone, gone, gone.

When I was Young

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ryeqvr_qCfY

The rooms were so much colder then
My father was a soldier then
And times were very hard
When I was young

I smoked my first cigarette at ten
And for girls, I had a bad yen
And I had quite a ball
When I was young

When I was young, it was more important
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

I met my first love at thirteen
She was brown and I was pretty green
And I learned quite a lot when I was young
When I was young

When I was young, it was more important
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

My faith was so much stronger then
I believed in fellow men
And I was so much older then
When I was young
When I was young
When I was young

There's so much fabulous new music out there. Don't any of you people listen to it? Haven't you heard Dream Theater, Alana Davis, Korn, Anastacia, the Mars Volta, Charlotte Martin or Apocalyptica? I love "classic rock" as much as the next Class of '60 high school graduate, but I also love music in general. By not closing myself off to the creativity of the last thirty years I've discovered a lot of wonderful stuff. I've recently gone to see Stephen Stills, Janis Ian and Zappa Plays Zappa, but I also saw Filter, Sarah Bareilles and Rob Thomas. As well as great forgotten groups from the in-between years like the Church, Jonatha Brooke and the Cult. I've been going to concerts since the Kingston Trio was in the Top Forty, but I'm not embarrased to be seen having a good time at a Kelly Clarkson show.
