Time Travel is Science Fiction

All: does everybody agree that time travel is science fiction? And that time does not literally flow?

This is the the way I interpret your question:

The distance between NY and Florida is 1,000 miles. I am in NY and you are in Florida. It is 12:00 at both locations, because we are in the same time zone. (;))

We previously spoke on the phone and agreed that we would each start traveling towards each other at 12:00. Since then time has elapsed and it is now 12:00. We each start traveling towards each other.

My statements:

1. You can't travel fast enough to go back to 11:59, period. Disregarding practical reasons, if you were to travel at 10^100 times the speed of light you could not get to my location before 12:00, or even AT 12:00.

2. You can not move 1 inch from your starting point, regardless of how fast you are traveling, unless time elapses and the time is then greater than 12:00.

3. In light of the evidence of 1 and 2, I hereby find time travel to be BS (read "totally impossible to go back in time!")

4. Case closed! :)

Good stuff, Motor Daddy.

I do have a quibble though with time has elapsed. Yes, it's better than time has passed. But it still comes with baggage. You look at your clock and the little hand moves. Because inside that clock, cogs move. There is no actual time inside that clock, elapsing. And I can move if I want to. I am not prevented from moving unless time elapses.

The internal components of the clock move in time. They do not move instantaneously. Time always elapses, you can not stop time from elapsing at the rate of 1 second per second.

But really, with all due respect, what you say or think, is going to make no difference to the general opinions held in the halls of science.

Time travel, as per the twin paradox, would happen, the evidence we have re time dilation supports that concept.

Question to all

If the measurement of time is not done , no yrs, months , weeks , days , hours , minutes and seconds

Does any object move , regardless ?

There are two objects of time, a stop watch, which you use to measure the time of a person running the 100 meter dash, and you use a clock to keep track of the points in time, ie, 12:00, 1:04:12, etc. Of course we all know that it's 3 seconds between 12:00:00 and 12:00:03. But since Einstein likes to play magic tricks with his clocks, I use a stop watch to stop that BS!

You have not answered the question

If no measurement is made does the action of movement continue regardless ?

The reason I asked the question in post#212

Is because many people think that time is the cause or the essence of movement of objects

I obviously disagreed

So my question is getting to the essence of the measurement of time its self and what time is dependent upon in order to exist

Which is movement and movement depends on the objects themselves , their energy and interactions with other objects

Who? And how is asking about measuring time the same as a question about there being time?

That doesn't really make any sense but in any case, no, the question was easy, basic and with no deep meaning.

Are you asking me if a foot long hot dog is still 1 foot long if you don't measure it with your tape measure? This is not fortune telling. You can't ask the crystal ball how much time it took you to go to Grandma's house tomorrow. There is no claim of lottery ticket number predicting. This is, Johnny ran the 100 yard dash in 4.54 seconds. What was his velocity. What was his acceleration. What time did he finish the race. Where did he start. Where did he finish. At what rate was his speed increasing. Was there anyone else that needs to be measured. Did they fire a gun 2 seconds after you flushed the toilet. Where is the bullet 3 seconds after you start the car? Everything has to be 100% precise, just like it happens in nature.
