Why don't the US give some piece of land to the Israelis? Ask them to leave the Middle East and move to some part in America and establish their country there? You like each other, you can be neighbour with each other, after all it's all they want (a country of their own) rihght? Why should shed all the bloods? Who cares about history of some 2000 years ago? Everyone everyday moving somewhere else permanently, why should prefer constant war, why why ??

LOL! Wasn't that the problem in the first place? Someone giving land to other people?:D

But seriously, the Israeli's are not going anywhere. Israel is an established state not a small colony of squatters. Its also been asked why other muslim nations simply do not absorb the Palestinians and that also seems to not be the answer. Why are there generations of refugees in Lebanon who do not hold Lebanese citizenship? Why do generations of Tibetans born in India not take Indian citizenship and discontinue claims towards Tibet?

And no the Israeli's do not only want some country for themselves they want the country they now have.

Its more complicated than you suggest.

Ok then just empty the land. Israelis can make their own country in USA, Palestinian can make their own country in Dubai, after all Dubai is rich and getting empty :p. The historical land from 2000 years ago can be made into museum for all generations to see so they can learn something positive from the past. The world is big enough for everyone to live!

Kira Israeli's are no more going to leave an established nation state than Pakistan is going to move into Norway.

There is no such thing as an "established nation"

Even the Roman Empire is a has-been

Meanwhile, Adam Horowitz has posted pics on mondoweiss of the protest in New York against the Israeli raid on the aid flotilla

I like this one

No it isn't complicated you just don't want to get it because reality doesn't favor the side you like. You always have an excuse for Israel.

true but the fall out goes to what I have been saying for a while. if we wish israel to change we need to put boots on the ground.

I was just reading a very interesting article:

A war tells a people terrible truths about itself. That is why it is so difficult to listen.

We were determined to avoid an honest look at the first Gaza war. Now, in international waters and having opened fire on an international group of humanitarian aid workers and activists, we are fighting and losing the second. For Israel, in the end, this Second Gaza War could be far more costly and painful than the first.

In going to war in Gaza in late 2008, Israeli military and political leaders hoped to teach Hamas a lesson. They succeeded. Hamas learned that the best way to fight Israel is to let Israel do what it has begun to do naturally: bluster, blunder, stonewall, and fume.

Hamas, and no less, Iran and Hezbollah, learned early on that Israel's own embargo against Hamas-ruled Gaza was the most sophisticated and powerful weapon they could have deployed against the Jewish state.

Here in Israel, we have still yet to learn the lesson: We are no longer defending Israel. We are now defending the siege. The siege itself is becoming Israel's Vietnam.

Of course, we knew this could happen. On Sunday, when the army spokesman began speaking of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla in terms of an attack on Israel, MK Nahman Shai, the IDF chief spokesman during the 1991 Gulf war, spoke publicly of his worst nightmare, an operation in which Israeli troops, raiding the flotilla, might open fire on peace activists, aid workers and Nobel laureates.

Likud MK Miri Regev, who also once headed the IDF Spokesman's Office, said early Monday that the most important thing now was to deal with the negative media reports quickly, so they would go away.

But they are not going to go away. One of the ships is named for Rachel Corrie, killed while trying to bar the way of an IDF bulldozer in Gaza seven years ago. Her name, and her story, have since become a lightning rod for pro-Palestinian activism.

Perhaps most ominously, in a stepwise, lemming-like march of folly in our relations with Ankara, a regional power of crucial importance and one which, if heeded, could have helped head off the First Gaza War, we have come dangerously close to effectively declaring a state of war with Turkey.

--------------------------------------

For many on the right, it must be said, there will be a quiet joy in all of what is about to hit the fan. "We told you so," the crowing will begin. "The world hates us, no matter what we do. So we may as well go on building [Read: 'Settling the West Bank and East Jerusalem'] and defending our borders [Read: 'Bolster Hamas and ultimately harm ourselves by refusing to lift the Gaza embargo']."

Israel has become its worst enemy. And this is going to get worse for them:

Some 700 activists, many Turks but including Israelis and Palestinians as well as Americans and many Europeans - among them politicians, a Jewish Holocaust survivor and Swedish author - were processed in and around Israel's port of Ashdod, where the six ships of the blockade-running convoy had been escorted.

The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that 50 activists had been taken to Ben-Gurion Airport for voluntary repatriation. Around 629 had refused, and would be jailed while Israel weighed legal options.

That's nice I reported you for trolling for your attempts to provoke me rather than deal with the post.

LOL! Provoke you? That's hysterical. You're so eager for my attention that you interject yourself with stupid comments with no criticism and no analysis when the discussion isn't around YOU!

Go on my pet. Go and post the link to the post where I was trolling.

Apparently Israel is making them sign papers indicating that they had illegally entered Israel, when it is Israel that has illegally kidnapped them from international waters. I'm not surprised more than 600 have refused. I am actually surprised 50 of them have signed!

What's going to happen in close future at some point, when Israel starts to attack everyone as the rabid dog it is? Seriously?

We are going to find out who has the most toys in a post nuclear scene. Is that it?

By the way, can anyone estimate how much real information do Israeli people get?

There are also other politics afoot as regards the UN statement:

The statement was the result of a compromise between Turkey and the United States, with Turkey reluctant to water down its trenchant criticism of Israel while the United States, Israel's closest ally, wanted to temper the language used, says the BBC's UN correspondent Barbara Plett in New York.

The compromise took out direct condemnation of Israel and removed references to an international investigation, our correspondent adds.

It also weakened demands for an end to the economic blockade of Gaza that the activists were trying to break, she says.

Rather than throw spittle all around maybe we could get back on topic. Your petulance, while amusing, will get this thread locked and its important to be discussed.
