We humans are predators and as such all of us have the capacity to kill. Some of us have practiced and studied techniques to do this so we would be better at it than a novice. For some it is reflexive on proper stimulus.

Personally, I would kill someone who tried to kill or harm me, a member of my family or someone who was threatening others with death. As an advanced martial artist and weapons expert who pretty much always goes armed, I am quite capable of killing someone if I must. I would rather not, however, and would not, if that could be avoided.

I don't really think this is something to be taken lightly either.

Remember what I said about having a very suburban perspective?

There's a lot of reasons why people become serial killers, and with your skills I hope you never find one of those reasons.:D

In my case I suppose the closest match would be serial killer: simply because of the similarities in the proposed(?) victims: those who knowingly promote misinformation. Who knowingly and willingly work at "reducing the average IQ".
But very little in the profile fits, including the "may be disappointed by his murder fantasy and may act it out again to achieve it to their own satisfaction". Any continuation would be a function of "justification" rather than disappointment (i.e. how could I be disappointed? THAT dipstick isn't doing it any more).

Of course, the problem arises in deciding exactly what criteria are used.
Snake-oil salesmen? Sure.
Politicians? A goodly number, I have no doubt.
Those who tell you Titanic was a great movie? Absolutely.
But after that things get a little nebulous and it'd be hard to not slide into "She really should know better than to wear THAT skirt with her thighs" BLAM!

So are you saying you would kill quickly and with very little pain? Somehow I thought you would like to make those you considered stupid to suffer a bit more.:D

One thing I learnt long ago is that you can never make another understand exactly the pain they put others through.
Plus, of course, there'd always be the possibility that deliberately prolonging their suffering would dehumanise me over time.
And who'd want an unfeeling unsympathetic serial killer around?
I suspect that it would make getting a date difficult for me. :D

Some serial killers are married with children (example: Dexter). You just have to keep your moonlighting exploits to yourself.

Yes I agree that the definition of serial killers needs to be expanded. I got those definitions on the following link.

http://www.francesfarmersrevenge.com/stuff/serialkillers/types.htm

In the following link, List of serial killers by country, the U.S. has so many listed they made a separate link for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_serial_killers_by_country

So why does the U.S. have 3 times as many as 2nd place U.K.?

Could just be most\many other countries dont identify serial killers.

I think you might be right. I remember reading somewhere that said the number of serial killers could be calculated based on population and that the culture played a very small part in determining the total number of serial killers.

Hahaha! Not mine. They can't touch me.

Edit: oops, please ignore that maniacal laughter bit. That's supposed to manifest later.

Anyway, you must have some comparable enforcement organization over in the U.K?
The police!
Since each county in the country is (supposedly) answerable to the government and crown the law is the law throughout the country, therefore there's no need for federal organisation (this, based on what little I know of the FBI).

Actually Scotland Yard has an intelligence function, but that's more of an office that runs things rather a full organisation with manpower to move in and take over cases. (AFAIK).

Scotland Yard, I had forgotten about them, but I suppose they could direct the police if they thought it was needed. But I'm not worried, I'm pretty sure the moderators would take out the thread before FBI involvement was needed.

I have often told my husband "If I were a serial killer, I would kill the woman in that house" We will be out driving, the house catches my eye and I say "dead". He knows what I am talking about.

statistically if any person here was a killer, then there victom is most likly to be there partner and then there parents or children.

or incredibly annoying Australian know-it-alls. I can see people here taking a trip for that. :D

In regards to categories ...
"Most Evil" is an American forensics television program on Investigation Discovery presented by forensic psychiatrist Michael Stone of Columbia University ... [who] researched hundreds of killers and their methods and motives to develop his hierarchy of "evil". The scale ranges from Category 1, those who kill in self-defense, to the Category 22, serial torturer-murderers.

(source)

Also, why are such perps called "killers", when what they do is obviously murder, making them "murderers" instead? In contrast, people who commit justifiable (or other) homicide (soldiers, police, executioners, acts of self defense, acts of manslaughter, etc) are merely killers.

Why don't governments and other collectors/publishers of mortality statistics include suicides in the broader category of homicides? For example, according to the American CDC, some yearly statistics: Homicides = 18,361, and Suicides = 34,598.

Your the last person I would have suspected of having that fantasy. But why the women? You know how serial killers pick their nick names, like the zodiac killer or jack the ripper. Cool names, but what would you visualize your headline as being? Maybe something like the house wife killer.:D
