Americans travel more than most citizens of most other countries and that's even before we travel outside of the country.

Now, if you said that many Americans don't travel well...you might be on to something.

Not in comparison with the majority of Europeans. If you have data to contrary, please share it. (I'm not counting invading other countries. That tends to give tourists a bad name.)

You give me data that says otherwise.

A U.S. citizen can travel 3,000 miles and still be in the U.S. One can visit every state and that's the equivalent of traveling to 50 countries most anywhere else.

Of course, we do travel outside the country as well but you aren't taking into account the size of the country in the first place.

You may be mistaking no traveling for no caring. Those who live in larger countries tend to not pay as much attention of smaller countries. That's not true in my case but in general I'm sure there is some truth to that statement.

See, the way it goes is that I shoot back at Ophiolite with a line he's used before, because he just dropped a line that is either a joke or the kind of anti-Americanism we prohibited once upon a time, or he made the obvious, stupid, bottom shelf, juvenile joke that allegedly everyone is supposed to be able to tell is a joke. Except then he goes and proves himself humorless, or something. I just figure run with the meta.

Or, you know, we can be humorless, apologize to everyone for the off-topic posts, and Ophiolite gets flagged for his post.

Either Ophiolite gets to have his joke or he doesn't. And, quite frankly, between his subsequent bawling and, well, you, we have a pretty good case for skipping out on such jokes in the future and just citing people. So, you know, how about you: Would you prefer we put on our authority to deal with such "jokes"? Because, to be quite honest, you've made the point. You're right: I shouldn't have tolerated such a joke. I should have just put on my green hat, done my duty, and issued an infraction. Indeed, I think that's what I'll do in the future.

Your vote is logged as Ophiolite doesn't get to have his joke.

On another note: One of my sergeants in the army absolutely hated the department of state.
By and large, he considered their actions as posturing and bellowing and setting unreasonable demands, which were doomed to fail, then-----sending in the military as a way of absolving themselves from their total incompetence.
Every time we "send in the military" it is indeed a sign of failure of the department of state, and every last one of them who was involved should resign.

Have you read what Luiz Inácio 'Lula' da Silva had to say about our state department?

Each new administration does the same thing. Those in the state department were given marching orders, weeks before they resigned. Resignation was more for a political statement to be spun by the media, into an alternative reality, where cause and affect get reversed.

The reason there is a purge is former party loyalty, can allow people, not fired to create trouble for the new administration. This is especially true under a political climate where many on the left are still in angry denial wanting too get even. Trump learned this the hard way from his temporary attorney general, who was an Obama era appointee. She turned on her boss. She demonstrated her true loyalty was to the left. Trump was giving her benefit of the doubt, but learned he can't trust those in denial.

You know what I mean. Soldiers don't know what's going on on a high level. They always think they know better than their commanders.
