Cartoons - bad for your health?

Brian Foley said:
Then how do you explain the Swedish Goverment apologizing and kow towing to the Israeli goverment by immediately pulling the artwork from the exhibition ? Where in contrast this political cartoon they are making this into a cause celebre ?

Because on the one hand the artist was satirizing a fictional historical character, and on the other the artist was sympathizing with a murderer. Big difference.

So you are Jewish afterall .

No, you idiot. I was writing in his voice. Calm down and loosen the chinstrap of your tin hat.

I have already said , this is being blown all out of proportion , there are no riots , there are no lynch mobs no one is being murdered . Yet you wish to portray this incident as an act of mass murder about to happen .

No riots? No lynch mobs?

Really?

This just in:

Damascus embassies torched in cartoon protest
CTV.ca News Staff

Syrian demonstrators torched the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus on Saturday, in the latest protest against the publication of controversial cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

Chanting "God is Great," protesters stormed the embassy, set the Danish flag on fire, and replaced it with another flag that read: "No God but Allah, Muhammad is his prophet." "

In Gaza City, demonstrators launched stones at a European Commission building and stormed a German cultural centre, breaking windows and doors.

"We will redeem our prophet, Muhammad, with our blood!" they chanted.

Oopsie! But maybe they just meant the local Red Crescent offices were running low.

And here's some more:

So - no riots, no lynch mobs?

Hello, Foley? [knock knock] Anyone home?

The situation in Indonesia is a racial one , as the Indonesian archipelago is a myriad of different cultures . The current Ambionese flare up is between muslims .

Well, that explains the beheading of Christian schoolgirls, the forcible closing of Christian churches there, and the incarceration of three women for preaching Christianity. A racial thing. Sure sure.

Maybe I ought to paste more articles on Jews in Isarel attacking and murdering Christians , like that IDF soldier who attcked that church because he hated Christians .

Go ahead. That's one guy. If there are lots more, then you may have a point. But there aren't, and you don't.

On the contrary, maybe I should keep you abreast of the treatment of non-muslims in islamic countries. I could post about it three times a day; and you could try to defend a society like that.

Read your thraed you make only mention of Palestinian , yet again , not the international muslim furore .

Read it again. I posted some from the UK too.

Where in the mideast is that ? I know in Israel it is against the law for Christians to convert Jews .

Never heard that it's against the law to convert Jews in Israel. Post your information. I highly doubt it's a serious law if it even exists, because there is a pretty broad percentage of Jews there who aren't Jewish by practice. If you're referring to the Law of Return, it's not the same thing.

I did find this though on gay rights in Israel:

"In most other Middle Eastern countries homosexuality is illegal, often punishable by flogging and even hanging."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_rights_in_Israel

And it's an islamic thing to make apostacy illegal, not a Middle Eastern one alone. It's illegal to convert from islam or convert others from it in Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Algeria, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, as I recall. In Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan, I believe the punishment is death; otherwise it's usually a huge fine and jail time and forcible re-conversion.

Wanna link? :D

http://www.yahoodi.com/peace/apostacy.html
http://www.co-jet.org/cjet/contents/021605/humanrightsin.htm

Wanna more official link? One that outlines the punishment in each country? Gimme a day, and you'll have it. Have to ask nice, though. :D

Israel is not a Western nation .

Israel is run like a Western nation, with human rights. Its geographic location is not particularly relevant, except to those who would destroy it.

Annan urges calm in cartoon row

Mr Annan says freedom of speech comes with responsibility

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for calm in a row over cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that has seen protests erupt across the Muslim world.

*******
JP-011005-Muhammed-Westerga.jpg

What on earth is offensive about this, as there are no pictures of Muhammad, are muslims saying this is a accurate life like picture of him.

Effigies of the prime minister of Denmark - where the cartoons were first published - were burnt in Pakistan.

A cartoon prime Minister burned, as he apologises to the world, for infecting us with this cartoon pandemic flu.

http://www.geertwilders.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=381&Itemid=74[img]

What hope for all of us, as cartoon flu stikes the world, is there a cure?

What a fucking farce, 3 months of madness over kiddy cartoons of there prophet, now even the UN secretary general making statements on this farce, CNN scared to show the cartoons, the BBC in the uk has, but its world news channel has not.

The uk papers like american ones are scared to run the cartoons, our democracies running scared of cartoon flu backlash.

Muslims demonstrating in the uk with placards saying exterminate europe, the 7th of july (the london bombings) is heading for europe.

Machine guns drawn, ready to mow us all down for our cartoons, has this entire week been a dream, or are millions of muslims demonstrating over cartoons, and if they are, what hope is there for these people.

As Lord Insane said on this thread, a lot of the problem is cultural. If many Muslims live in totalitarian countries where the government controls the media and the justice system, can they be blamed for

1 - assuming that the Jyllands Posten is government run
2 - asking the Danish prime minister to intervene

Even though it's just a private newspaper exercising the old European tradition of satire, due to 1 many Muslims they feel as though the entire country is attacking them. And although in democratic countries the prime minister does not have the right to arrest somebody without trial, being unused to this they may feel that they aren't being listened to on no. 2.

Perhaps if the Danish prime minister explained how democracy works...

This is the first time i have ever seen the Danish prime minister, now he is the most famous man in the world, as he grovels to muslim countries, on a worldwide, i aplogise trip.

this farce is getting way out of control, as they even try to gag our media, controlling the media is the first thing dictators do, as they take control of your country.

I want to know why millions of muslims in every country, are walking around with placards like kill the danish, exterminate europe, i mean over a cartoon there willing to kill other humanbeings.

You all watch tv are you seeing these placards too?

Why do you quote my post when your response has nothing to do with what I said?

Why, Why, Why, the question that has been asked for centuries,
quotes, ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.

There is no difference the cartoon and sculpture both portrayed current violent mideast comparisons . So why can Sweden immediately apologize and pull the offending artwork off display and there is a diplomatic effort to smooth over and appease Israel . Whilst here the danish Goverment says fuck you and these cartoons are reprinted all over Scandanavia as an act of free speech and expression !

It is not just sciforums. Any major forums on the internet where Israel is discussed will have one or more of these people. You can always tell them because they have an encyclopedic knowledge of the mideast and a library of links at their fingertips.
Yeah but what also is a dead give away is the idiots dont not know how to respond when you counter their links with sources that demolish their source . They then change subject and go off topic .

We all know from the Salman Rushdie and the Satanic verses affair such images cause violent and passionate responses from the Islamic community. This has nothing to do with freedom of expression or speech . The artist who drew this did so with the intention of creating trouble thats obvious , so too bad if you dont like the reaction , dont cause trouble .

The artist who drew these cartoons was fully aware of what he was creating would be seen as offensive . Likewise the newspaper editor who allowed these cartoons to be published was fully aware these would create a controversy. The Danish community knows by continuing to post these cartoons will only inflame Arab passions even further .

The Danes know that by pushing the boundaries of tolerance like this would only cause a violent reaction so the Danes must take responsibilty for their actions . If any Dane die's because of it , Fuck em , they started it they can live with the consequences of their actions .

Happeh said:
The Danish Prime Minister, as well as all the other papers printing the cartoons, are doing it on the order of Israel.
Batshit. Loco. Insane.

The cartoons don't glorify violence against muslims, you medieval screwhead.

Yeah suuuuure .

Op! - well, that's it, I guess. You found me out. I'm an evil Judeo-Israeli-CIA-Lizardoid. My official title is Sub-Regional Deputy Internet Master of Evil, although we usually just go by SUREDIME.

As I asked some 3 pages back who has died ?

As I responded: is it for lack of trying or lack of opportunity? Answer the question. There have been calls for the deaths of Danes and the destruction of Denmark. You were wrong on CNN; figure out where the problem is.

What human rights , 5 million Palestinians denied citizenship under barbaric laws and a democracy for Jews only .

It's not barbaric to deny someone citizenship, blinky. It's barbaric when masses of religious bigots get together and scream for the death of people who've done them no physical wrong whatever.

....WTF is this?

LMAO!

Actually the funniest part of this is that Brian speculated wildly about Sayyanim, then Happeh backs him up and accuses me of being one (which I admit I'd never heard of before) and then Brian SMACKS HIM DOWN! OOOOOH - bet that stung, eh? Couldn't stop laughing. Oh, man!

But brian muslims are walking around with placards saying bomb europe, exterminate europe, does all of europe have to be destroyed because muslims have no sense of humour what so ever.

These countries are ours not theres, they whinge and complain if we dare to complain about there stone age laws, yet now they are trying to control our most basic right free speach.

Van goghs nephew murdered because he showed muslims in a bad light, a dutch politician murdered for the same reason, it seems if any of us dare speak against islam or muslims, we are all going to be killed.

Car-fucking-toons we are talking about here, what next books, are they going to torch our bookstores because they are selling books that criticise islam.
